Yacht charter in Malta is offered in three formats. A day charter is four to eight hours of exclusive use with a licensed skipper, from €1,430 for a half day and €1,900 for a full day. A weekly charter is a fully crewed yacht for seven days with provisioning and a planned itinerary, from €34,800 on the 20.8m Sunseeker Manhattan 66 and €50,000 on the 26m Sunseeker 86. A bespoke programme is anything else: multi-yacht events, overnight Gozo stays, a Sicily crossing, a wedding or a photo shoot. All three depart from Portomaso, Msida, Ta' Xbiex, Sliema or Mġarr in Gozo, carry up to twelve guests per yacht by day, and require no licence from you.

Format one
The day charter is the backbone of Maltese yachting and the format nine out of ten guests book. Eight hours is enough to leave Portomaso at 09:00, anchor in Comino's Blue Lagoon before the ferries, move round the headland to the Crystal Lagoon for deeper snorkelling, take lunch at anchor in Santa Marija Bay or Hondoq ir-Rummien on Gozo, and still be back on the pontoon for golden hour.
A half day works better than people expect. Four hours will comfortably cover Sliema to St Paul's Islands with a long swim stop, or Grand Harbour and the Three Cities followed by St Peter's Pool. In flat conditions a fast Axopar will reach Comino and return inside four hours, though the skipper will tell you honestly on the morning whether that is a good idea.
Day charters are priced as one all-in figure that already contains fuel for the agreed route, harbour dues, Comino anchorage fees, water, soft drinks, ice, towels and snorkelling gear. What sits outside the figure is catering, premium drinks, motorised water toys and transfers, each quoted per guest or per item so you can decide what the day actually needs.
Departure time is the single biggest variable in the quality of a Malta day charter. Comino fills from 11:00 in July and August. Leaving at 09:00 rather than 10:30 is the difference between a lagoon to yourselves and a lagoon with fourteen tour boats in it — which is why we push early starts even when guests are on holiday time.
Format two
A week changes the rhythm completely. Instead of racing the ferries to one lagoon you move slowly: two nights on the Gozo side, a morning at Mġarr ix-Xini, an afternoon at Dwejra when the swell allows, a night at anchor in Santa Marija Bay, a long day along the Malta south coast to St Peter's Pool and the Blue Grotto, and a final evening berthed in Grand Harbour under the floodlit bastions.
Weekly charters start at €34,800 on the 20.8m Sunseeker Manhattan 66 and €50,000 on the 26m Sunseeker 86, with 30m+ superyachts from €98,000. On weekly crewed bookings the fee usually sits alongside an Advance Provisioning Allowance — 25% to 35% of the charter fee — which funds fuel, food, drink, marina berths and port charges, is spent transparently by the captain and reconciled with receipts at the end of the week.
Sicily becomes realistic on a week. It is ninety nautical miles to Pozzallo or Marina di Ragusa, a long but comfortable day on a yacht over 17m in settled conditions, opening Syracuse, Ortigia and the Sicilian south-east coast. We only offer the crossing with a full crew and a stable forecast window, and we build a Malta-only alternative into the plan so nobody loses a day.
Provisioning is where a good week is won. Your preference sheet covers everything from coffee and children's snacks to allergies, favourite wines and whether you want lunch plated or laid out as mezze. The chef shops in Malta before you arrive, so the galley matches your household rather than a generic charter menu.
Format three
Anything that does not fit a standard day or week. These are quoted individually because the yacht is only part of the job.
Ceremony at anchor or on the flybridge, a photographer's tender running alongside, a chilled reception on a shaded aft deck and a night berth in Grand Harbour. Guest numbers above twelve are handled with a second yacht on the same route.
Two to six yachts in convoy, matching menus, branded welcome packs, insurance certificates and risk documentation issued for your compliance team, one VAT invoice at the end.
Static or under way, with crew briefed for camera positions, a support tender, drone-safe anchorages and permits arranged where a location needs them.
A larger crewed yacht for the sleeping party plus a fast day cruiser as a shuttle, so grandparents keep the shade and teenagers keep the water toys.
Malta to Sicily, the Aeolian islands, Lampedusa or the Tunisian coast on a yacht equipped and crewed for open water, with clearance paperwork prepared in advance.
Flowers, cake, personalised signage, a champagne toast, a photographer hidden on the foredeck and a crew briefed on exactly when to disappear.

Timing
Peak weeks on the crewed yachts go first, and the best skippers are committed early. Rates carry a 20–25% premium over the shoulder months.
Warm sea, settled north-westerlies, long light and mid-season pricing. If your dates are flexible, these are the weeks we push guests towards.
Both months are excellent value and quiet, but an autumn or spring front can shorten a day. A flexible reserve date costs nothing and saves the trip.
A 30-knot north-easterly matters far more than two degrees of air temperature. Our skippers make the call 24 hours out and again on the morning.
If you are chartering between port calls we build in a large margin against your all-aboard time and arrange transfers from the Valletta terminal.

Booking
Step 1
Dates, guest numbers, whether you want a day, a week or something bespoke, and your departure area. One message is enough to start.

Two or three suitable yachts with live availability, an all-in price, extras itemised and a draft itinerary with timings.

Swap yachts, add a chef, extend into a sunset return, add transfers or a second yacht for a larger group.

50% for day charters; a MYBA-style charter agreement with staged payments and APA for weekly and superyacht bookings.
Step 5
Menus, allergies, drinks, celebrations and music go to the crew before you land, so nothing needs explaining on the pontoon.
Step 6
Met at the named pontoon fifteen minutes before departure, safety briefing, lines off. Your concierge stays reachable all day.

Rates are per yacht, not per guest, and include VAT unless the quote states otherwise. Superyacht charters are billed with an advance provisioning allowance for fuel, dockage and provisioning on top of the charter fee.
Charter in Malta is regulated. Every yacht we place guests on is commercially registered and licensed for charter under Malta's commercial yacht framework, administered by Transport Malta's Merchant Shipping Directorate. That distinction matters more than any marketing claim on this page, so here is how to check it and what it changes for you.
Ask any operator in Malta — including us — for the yacht's name and registration before you pay a deposit. It takes one question and settles the point.
Your confirmation names the marina, the pontoon and a boarding time, with the crew's number for the morning. Charter office hours are Mon–Sun 08:00–21:00 CET.

The Advance Provisioning Allowance is a fund of 25–35% of the charter fee, paid before departure on weekly crewed and superyacht charters. The captain spends it on fuel, food, drink, marina berths and port fees, keeps the receipts, and reconciles the balance with you at the end of the charter — unspent money is returned.
