The questions guests ask before they enquire — price, inclusions, guest numbers, departure points and lead times.
| How much is a yacht charter in Malta? | From €1,430 for a half day and €1,900 for a full day; €6,500 a day for a crewed 20.8m yacht and €10,900 for a 26m; weeks from €34,800. |
|---|---|
| Is fuel included? | Yes, for the agreed cruising route, along with generator hours at anchor. A route change that adds significant miles is quoted before you go. |
| Are harbour and Comino fees included? | Yes — harbour dues, the marina berth on the day and Comino anchorage fees are all inside the quoted figure. |
| What is not included? | Catering (€95–€185 per guest), premium drinks (from €65 per guest), motorised water toys (€250–€850 a day), transfers (from €95 each way) and gratuities. |
| What is APA? | An Advance Provisioning Allowance of 25–35% of the charter fee on crewed weekly and superyacht charters, spent by the captain on fuel, food, drink and berths and reconciled with receipts. |
| Is VAT charged? | Yes. Commercial charters in Malta are invoiced with VAT, and the applicable rate is shown on your quote and invoice. |
| Is a gratuity expected? | Never included and never expected. Five to ten percent handed to the skipper for the whole crew is the Mediterranean norm if the day was excellent. |
| How much is peak season? | July and August carry a 20–25% premium over May, June, September and October on the same yacht. |
| Can I reduce the price? | Charter midweek, choose June or September, be flexible by a few days, ask about repositioning gaps, and decline the extras you will not use. |
| What deposit is needed? | 50% confirms a day charter, with the balance seven days before. Weekly and superyacht charters follow MYBA-style staged payments plus APA. |

Add-ons
Extras sit outside the day rate so you can add or remove them without renegotiating the charter. These are the prices we quote, not estimates.

From €220 per day
A hostess or second deckhand for larger parties, or a private chef where the yacht does not carry one as standard.
What moves the price
Weekly charters
On day charters there is no APA. You pay one all-in figure plus any extras you chose, and that is the end of it. APA belongs to crewed weekly and superyacht charters, where the running costs of a week at sea genuinely cannot be predicted to the euro in advance.
The Advance Provisioning Allowance is a fund, usually 25% to 35% of the charter fee, paid before departure alongside the fee itself. The captain spends it on your behalf during the charter: fuel, food, drink, marina berths, port and harbour charges, laundry, and any excursions or transfers arranged on the water. It is your money, not the operator's income.
You should receive a running account and, at the end of the charter, a reconciliation with receipts. Anything unspent is returned; if the week involves more cruising than planned, the captain will ask you to top up before the fund runs low rather than after. A charter that will not show you receipts is not running a proper APA and you should ask why.
VAT is charged on commercial charters in Malta, and the rate applicable to your booking is shown on the quote and on the invoice. Corporate clients can have the invoice issued to the company entity for reclaim where eligible. On superyacht charters that cruise beyond Maltese waters the VAT position can differ, and it is set out in the charter agreement before signature rather than negotiated afterwards.

Rates are per yacht, not per guest, and include VAT unless the quote states otherwise. Superyacht charters are billed with an advance provisioning allowance for fuel, dockage and provisioning on top of the charter fee.
Charter in Malta is regulated. Every yacht we place guests on is commercially registered and licensed for charter under Malta's commercial yacht framework, administered by Transport Malta's Merchant Shipping Directorate. That distinction matters more than any marketing claim on this page, so here is how to check it and what it changes for you.
Ask any operator in Malta — including us — for the yacht's name and registration before you pay a deposit. It takes one question and settles the point.
Your confirmation names the marina, the pontoon and a boarding time, with the crew's number for the morning. Charter office hours are Mon–Sun 08:00–21:00 CET.
| Line | How we treat it | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Charter fee | Fixed per yacht for the agreed hours | Quoted in euro and confirmed in writing before any payment is taken. |
| VAT | Included in day and half-day charter fees | Weekly and superyacht charters are quoted plus VAT; your quote states which applies. |
| Fuel — day boats | Charged on consumption | Gauges are read before and after; you pay for what the day actually used. |
| Fuel — crewed motor yachts | First 30 nautical miles included | Longer routes such as Gozo and Comino combined go beyond this; the extra is itemised. |
| Superyacht running costs | Advance provisioning allowance (APA) | Fuel, dockage, provisioning and crew expenses drawn from a pre-funded balance, reconciled after the charter with receipts. |
| Marina fees at base | Included | No berthing surcharge at the departure marina. Overnight berths away from base are itemised. |
| Crew gratuity | Discretionary | Never added automatically to an invoice. |

A four-hour half day starts at €1,430 and an eight-hour full day at €1,900 on the 11.5m Axopar 37ST. The 13.9m Axopar 45 is €2,500 a day, the crewed 20.8m Sunseeker Manhattan 66 €6,500 a day or €34,800 a week, and the 26m Sunseeker 86 €10,900 a day or €50,000 a week. Superyachts over 30m start at €14,500 a day or €98,000 a week plus APA.
Yes. Our day rates include fuel for the agreed cruising route and generator hours at anchor. If you decide on the day to add significant extra miles, the skipper quotes the additional fuel before you go rather than after.
Yes. Harbour dues, the marina berth on the day and Comino anchorage fees are all inside the quoted price. These are the three costs most commonly collected in cash on the pontoon by cheaper operators.
Catering at €95–€185 per guest, premium drinks packages from €65 per guest, motorised water toys at €250–€850 a day, private transfers from €95 each way, photography from €650, celebration packages from €350, extra cruising hours from €290, and crew gratuities.
The Advance Provisioning Allowance is a fund of 25–35% of the charter fee, paid before a crewed weekly or superyacht charter. The captain spends it on fuel, food, drink, marina berths and port charges on your behalf, keeps the receipts, and reconciles the balance at the end — unspent money is returned.
Commercial charters in Malta are invoiced with VAT, and the applicable rate appears on your quote and invoice. Corporate clients can have the invoice raised to a company entity. On superyacht charters cruising outside Maltese waters the VAT position can differ and is set out in the charter agreement.
Expect a 20–25% premium on the same yacht compared with May, June, September and October. Moving your date by two weeks either side of the peak is the single largest saving available without changing yacht.
It is never included and never expected. If the crew have made the day, five to ten percent of the charter price handed to the skipper for the whole crew is the Mediterranean convention.
From €1,430 for four hours on the Axopar 37ST, €1,850 on the Axopar 45, €4,600 on the crewed Manhattan 66 and €7,600 on the Sunseeker 86 — all inclusive of skipper, fuel for the route, fees, water and towels.
50% of the charter price confirms a day charter, with the balance due seven days before departure. Weekly and superyacht charters follow MYBA-style staged payments, typically 50% on signature and 50% at thirty days, plus the APA before embarkation.
Yes, in three legitimate ways: charter in the shoulder season, charter midweek, or let us match you to a repositioning gap or a late cancellation in the calendar. We do not discount by removing inclusions from the price.
From €34,800 on the Sunseeker Manhattan 66 and €50,000 on the Sunseeker 86, plus an APA of roughly 25–35% covering fuel, provisioning, drinks, berths and port fees. Superyachts over 30m start at €98,000 a week plus APA.
